Development and Realisation- Test Posters.

I have started to use inscape to start creating my poster. Although these are just rough ideas I think it is going well.

The number of circles are not correct as of yet there are only 170 acquaintance circles so I need to mess around with the size and layout of them to be able to add more and I am just playing around with either having a outline for the F or not:

Development and Realisation-Disscustion with lecture

Today I have a discussion with my texture on the progress on my poster and  this is what I’ve got so far:facevook

We exchanged some ideas on where I can go from here:

  • depending on how many circles I can get in the F, I could try messing around with their size, depending on how close I am to the people.
  • If I run out of room, I could add another layer or adding a gradient to the circles
  • using a gradient inside the F instead of circles

Development and Realisation- Poster Research.

After feedback and a discussion  with my lecture I  have decided that it would be best to go for the idea of having the Facebook Logo F and filling it with different co loured circles each representing a group of people. For this I would need to collect data on my Facebook profile, originally I had planned on manually looking through my profile and writing down where I thought ever body fitted, but after half an hour of doing this I came to the realisation that it was going to take to long and eat into my time to create the actual poster. After some searching on the web I came across which is a site that helps you collect data and they have a page which is for  collecting data on your Facebook profile. It gives you data on all types, such as who is your oldest and youngest friend, who do you talk to the most, who do you have the most/least in common with and much more. The results of my friends:

Close Friends: 17

Family: 12

Acquaintances: 358

Total number of Facebook friends: 387

Development and Realisation- Ideas

I have decided to settle with the What is your social network? and I have come up with a few ideas on how I could represent that data.

  1. My first idea was to have a time line across the bottom of the poster either starting from my birth or the time I joined Facebook and having my close friends, family and acquaintances popping up at the time the entered my life or I become friends with them on Facebook. Then from there I will have colour lines (each representing a different group) connecting to me and more lines connecting them to each other (if they are).
  2. My second idea is to have a large Facebook F and filling it with different colour circles filling the F. Each colour would representing a different group, either my close friends, family or acquaintances.

Both ideas could represent the data well.
